Saudi Gamer is currently the only active Saudi (and possibly Arabic) gaming podcast available.

Background

Jameel Abdulahad and I wanted to make a gaming podcast since early 2008, and actually attempted to start one under an Arabic gaming site, but the owner rejected our pilot episode claiming it was useless because it didn’t have any tutorials or something like that. Later in the same year, we decided to start our own site and do things our way.

Our biggest challenge was (and still) introducing people to the concept of “podcasts”. Arabs are still not used to listening to podcast, so it was very hard to convince someone to listen to something that is up to an hour long. So what we did is that we explained briefly on the site what podcasts are and how/where people are supposed to listen to them , and eventually people started listening. And then word of mouth started doing its magic.

One of our goals is to introduce podcasting to people in our region, and hopefully encourage others to start their own.
